Curtain Model Requirements

To precisely create a digital representation of curtains and drapery it is essential to have complete and accurate information. The key questions you need to answer are:

What category of window covering do you require?
Where should the curtains be positioned?
Do the curtains require a backing?
What type of heading do you require?
What type of fixtures do you want and where should they be attached?
How should the curtain drape?
What are the measurements?

Following you will find examples of the various options for each of these questions.

Important Note

Creating curtains in 3D is a multi-stage process and it's crucial to have the correct measurements from the start. Once modeled and detailed it is impossible to change the curtain size by more than a few percent in any direction.

Backing Requirement

Transparency is most relevant to sheers. However it is important to note that our fabrics are digitized without backing of any sort. As a result some fabrics will appear (semi-)transparent when used as window decoration. Thus it is important to specify whether backing is to be simulated or not.

Fixture Type

These determine how a curtain is hung from the wall or ceiling. One benefit of 3D is that we can provide any design, material finish or length of the curtain rod. When specifying the fixture type be sure to indicate whether the fixture should be attached to the wall or to the ceiling.

Curtain Drape

Draping describes the relation between the length of the curtain and the floor, and how the curtain should be styled if it makes contact with the ground.
