Furniture Model Requirements
To precisely create a digital representation of an object it is essential to have complete and accurate information. The key elements we need are:
- Detailed measurements for all parts of the furniture
- High resolution proportion images showing the front, back, and sides
- High resolution perspective images showing the shape
- High resolution close up images of the finer details
Measurements
The main requirement for any new model is clear and precise measurements. The measurements can be overlaid on photos, detailed in a drawing, or provided in a CAD file. The more measurements that are given the more accurate the end result will be. If in doubt add a measurement.

The measurements that should be included are as follows:
- Floor to top of backrest height
- Floor to top of seat height
- Floor to base height
- Leg height
- Leg width (multiple measurements are required if the legs are tapered)
- Full width
- Seat width
- Full depth
- Seat depth
- Arm width
- Back width
- All pillow heights, widths, and depths
- Piping width if significant
Please note that if you are only supplying drawings we also require detailed information to help us understand the intended look and feel of the piece of furniture. This should include information for all non-fabric materials and reference images for the intended look of the piece.
Proportion Images
To show the correct proportions of the piece of furniture we require head-on images from every unique side including the front, sides, and back. For symmetrical furniture only one side view image is required, however for furniture such as a sofa with a chaise langue on one end, views from both the left and right sides are required.

Perspective Images
Perspective images show the object from multiple angles and are intended to give a complete overview of what the model looks like. These images give the 3D artist additional information for how the piece fits together.

Close Up Images
In addition to the proportion and perspective images we also require close up images of the finer details of the piece. If you're only providing drawings please provide images of similar details from other pieces of furniture.
Close up images should be provided for the following:
- Furniture legs
- Stitching
- Piping
- Badges and labels
- Any other important detail
